Asynchronous Professional Learning for World Language Teachers – Election Day
The Board of Regents adopted the revised New York State Learning Standards for Languages Other Than English (LOTE) in March 2021, updating them to represent what students should know and be able to do in the languages and cultures which they study. The Board of Regents also adopted a regulation changes to rename the learning standards from LOTE to “World Languages”: http://www.nysed.gov/standards-and-guidelines
As we build awareness of the exciting new standards, professional learning is available to support teachers in every aspect. AP for All is encouraging WL educators to take advantage of the learning opportunities that the Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages has been providing. If your teachers weren’t able to attend one of the 2020-2021 NYSED webinars live, they can watch them when convenient or set up a discussion group with colleagues.
Check out the “Recordings of Previous PLs” on the NYSED Professional Learning page here. CTLE available after they pass the linked assessments. If you have any questions, please contact AP for All Spanish Content Specialist Marisol Manríquez-Weiner at mweiner@schools.nyc.gov.
