Cheryl (Ama) Matthews-Valery
As a life long lover of history, Cheryl began her career as a high school Social Studies teacher in the New York City Department of Education. As an educator, Cheryl’s mission has been to advocate for the most vulnerable children in our system. As an AP teacher, Cheryl is committed to social justice and providing culturally relevant pedagogy to children. Cheryl has over 12 years teaching experience in the United States and abroad, and as a content area specialist for the Office of Equity and Access, she aims to continue to be a champion for students to ensure they are provided with educational opportunities that will allow them to be academically successful.
