Akua-Kisiwaa Adefope, “Dr. Bee”, is currently a Senior Director of Instruction with the Office of Equity and Access. Dr. Bee has worked in the field of education for almost two decades serving as a classroom Maths teacher for students with (dis)abilities, an instructional coach, adjunct instructor at Queens College, Teacher Development and Evaluation Coach (TDEC), Director of School Renewal and a full time school-based instructional administrator. She earned a Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Education from the City University of New York (CUNY), Graduate Center and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo. Her interests and areas of expertise include: race, ethnicity, and inequality; inclusive pedagogies and culturally responsive teacher education; brain research in the lives of students with (dis)abilities; and using video as a professional learning tool to support teaching and learning. Dr. Bee supports the AP for All instructional team by providing day-to-day organization and coordination of assignments in developing professional learning experiences for teachers, Teacher Leaders, school-based and district-based leaders.
